Commissioners appoint economic development director to statewide AttainmentNC cohort

The Craven County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on May 4 to appoint Economic Development Director Jeff Wood to serve as the county’s representative on the Workforce Pipeline Collaborative core team for the AttainmentNC initiative, with Leanna Klok named as alternate.
Wood told commissioners the cohort-based initiative — supported by myFutureNC — advances career-connected learning and postsecondary attainment and is funded at $100,000 per year for two years. He said participation requires execution of a Memorandum of Understanding and active engagement with local K–12, higher education, workforce and industry partners. Wood stated there is no direct fiscal impact to the county at this time, but participation may involve staff time and in-kind support.
Commissioner E. T. Mitchell moved to appoint Wood and Klok and to authorize execution of the MOU; Commissioner Beatrice R. Smith seconded the motion, and the board carried it unanimously.
