School board convenes closed session under Virginia Code §2.2-3711 and certifies no action resulted

At its April 22 special meeting the Franklin County School Board moved into a closed session under Virginia Code §2.2-3711(A)(1) (personnel) and §2.2-3711(A)(8) (legal advice) to discuss personnel, governance, student and contract matters, the chair said.
The chair read the statutory motion calling for a closed session; the motion to convene was seconded and approved by voice vote. After the board returned to open session the chair recited the statutory certification required by law that only matters identified in the motion were discussed in closed session and that the matters were lawfully exempted from open-meeting requirements.
The clerk conducted a roll call for the certification. When called, members responded in the affirmative: Mister Holly; Mister AG; Miss Slocum; Mister Martin; Mister Shiflett; Mister Connor; Miss Greer; and Mister Worley all answered “Yes,” completing the certification. When asked whether any action resulted from the closed session the chair stated, “There was not.”
The board did not announce any personnel or legal actions from the closed session during the open meeting. The certification and roll call are part of the public record required under Virginia law for closed sessions.
