UT Board approves UTC land-exchange with Hamilton County for parking and county health site

The University of Tennessee Board of Trustees approved a land-exchange between UTC and Hamilton County that will transfer roughly 1.3 acres at the Ingalls Stadium site to the county and, in return, give UTC access to two parcels across the street under 30-year ground leases (each with an extension option) for a nominal dollar per year to be used for parking.
David Miller described the structure as a noncash, mutually beneficial transaction aligned with UTC and community priorities: the county can build a new health department facility on the transferred site (allowing Erlanger to expand), while UTC gains satellite parking in proximity to the stadium. Chancellor Bruce added that the move relocates the health department to an area with greater need and provides practical parking options for faculty, staff and students.
Trustees moved and seconded the resolution and approved it by roll call. The materials posted to the board web site include maps and term sheets; trustees approved authority to execute the required documents.
