Farwell council approves contractor payments, Mill Pond change order and Maple Grove estimate

At its May 19 meeting the Village of Farwell Council approved a series of construction and consultant payments, a change order for Mill Pond improvements and a conditional estimate for Maple Grove work.
By roll call the council approved Payment Application No. 11 to RCL Construction for $57,432.22 and Payment Application No. 6 to The Isabella Corporation for $143,330.97. The council also approved Fleis & VandenBrink invoice no. 73545 for $30,000 and invoice no. 73574 for $4,500.
Trustee Amanda Pfruender moved and Trustee Gina Hamilton seconded approval of Change Order No. 3 for the Mill Pond Improvements in the amount of $27,696; the motion carried on a unanimous roll call. Trustee Shawn Burger moved to accept the Maple Grove estimate contingent on Surrey Township’s acceptance and with a not-to-exceed amount of $80,000; Trustee Amanda Pfruender seconded and the contingent approval passed unanimously.
A separately listed T‑Mobile agenda item was tabled to the next regular council meeting after a motion by Trustee Victoria Williams and a second by Trustee Gina Hamilton.
Why it matters: the approvals represent near-term cash flow for ongoing capital projects and require the Village to manage project budgets and intergovernmental approvals (the Maple Grove work is contingent on Surrey Township’s acceptance).
Next steps: staff will process the approved payments and incorporate the change order and contingency into project budgets; the T‑Mobile item will be returned to the council at a future meeting.
