The Village of Farwell council voted on Feb. 10 to purchase a new salt truck and to make a parks administrative position full time as part of a draft budget review.
Trustee Jeff Linton moved to approve the purchase of a Freightliner 108SD Plus salt truck for $191,137, with financing for seven years at an interest rate of 6.31%. Trustee Marvin Frayer seconded the motion; the motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote by President Tracey Jackson and six trustees.
During the same session the council conducted a draft review of the 2025–2026 budget. Clerk Ross Wilson noted changes that council members requested be incorporated before the final budget meeting scheduled for Feb. 24, 2025. As part of that review, Trustee Amanda Pfruender moved to make the Parks and Recreation/Administrative Assistant position a full-time role effective March 1, 2025; Trustee Gina Hamilton seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The council also reviewed proposed amendments to the current 2024–2025 budget and asked the clerk to record recommended changes for the final budget meeting.
The council adjourned at 8:13 PM. The next regular council meeting is set for Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, at 6:00 PM, with the final budget meeting to follow on Feb. 24 at 6:00 PM.
