Farwell council extends building bid, tables personnel policies and approves surplus auction listing

The Village of Farwell council handled a number of administrative items on Nov. 3, extending deadlines, authorizing surplus disposition and postponing several policy decisions.
Trustee Victoria Williams moved and Trustee Gina Hamilton seconded to extend the building bid period to Nov. 17, 2025; the motion carried. Trustee Jeff Linton moved and Trustee Victoria Williams seconded to sell the village Leaf Vac by auction; DPW Supervisor Jason Walters will list it; that motion carried. The council tabled a proposed maternity and paternity leave policy and a CDL and medical card policy to the Nov. 17 meeting for further revision. Zoning Officer Timothy Feig presented a DNR Tree City application; Trustee Gina Hamilton moved and Trustee Victoria Williams seconded to table the application until the first council meeting in January 2026; the motion carried.
President Tracey Jackson reported she had authorized Clerk/Treasurer Ross Wilson and DPW Supervisor Jason Walters to purchase a replacement wellhouse garage door at a cost of $3,130 because the existing door was unsafe. The council also discussed maintenance items — the water tower was washed Oct. 29 and will need re-clear coating — and local concerns including a sign on Kapplinger covered by leaves and loose dogs on N. Wright Street. The meeting adjourned at 6:52 p.m.
