Rio Rancho announces Memorial Day ceremony, Juneteenth and July 4 programming

The department director (speaker 2) told commissioners the city has a packed summer schedule of events. He noted the annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held May 25 at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park and invited the community to attend. The director also highlighted a Juneteenth celebration on June 20 at Haines Park featuring live entertainment and a partnership with the Rio Rancho/Sandoval County NAACP.
The July 4 celebration is planned for Campus Park on July 4 from 5 p.m. to about 9:30 p.m., with performances by the Rio Grande Symphonic Band and the New Mexico Philharmonic, food trucks, a beer garden and fireworks around 9:30 p.m. The director said the city will bring back a kids' bike parade with a decorating contest (registration required) and will host a bike-decorating contest and prizes.
Other items included free half-day landfill days through the Keeper of Rancho Beautiful partnership (upcoming Sept. 19 and Nov. 21 dates), a Father's Day tea on June 6 at Cabazon Community Center and recurring Cabazon markets (next on June 27). The director encouraged residents to contact City Hall with questions.
