Farwell council approves moonlighting and sign policies, awards sidewalk contract and authorizes construction payments

The Village of Farwell council on Sept. 15 approved a pair of policies, awarded a sidewalk contract and authorized payments related to ongoing construction work.
The council voted unanimously to adopt a Moonlighting Policy and a Sign Policy after motions by Trustee Gina Hamilton (Moonlighting, Sign Policy) with seconders as recorded. Trustee Amanda Pfruender moved and Trustee Jeff Linton seconded the award of the sidewalk contract to Isabella Corporation for $15,713.50. The council also approved Pay Application No. 14 to RCL Construction for $91,497.95, accepted Invoice No. 74706 for $27,000.00 to Fleis & Vandenbrink, and approved Change Order No. 7 for the active construction contract. All listed motions were carried by roll-call votes recorded as "all yeas." The draft Purchasing Policy was tabled until the Oct. 6, 2025 regular meeting.
Council members making motions and seconds were recorded in the minutes. Present at the meeting were President Tracey Jackson and Trustees Amanda Pfruender, Gina Hamilton, Jeff Linton, Victoria Williams, Shawn Burger and Marvin Frayer; the recorded roll-call results indicated unanimous approval for the recorded motions.
The financial approvals fund ongoing public-works activity including the sidewalk project and associated contract work. The clerk/treasurer’s report at the meeting also referenced Mill Pond status, DWSRF grant activity and billing matters for local apartment properties, items the council will continue to monitor.
The council set its next regular meeting for Oct. 6, 2025 at 6:00 PM.
