Okaloosa board appoints Amy Morgan as Destin Elementary principal in unanimous vote

Superintendent Marcus Chambers presented Morgan's background, saying she "proudly serves currently as the assistant principal at Lewis School" and described her 18 years in education and academic credentials. The board moved to accept the appointment; the motion carried 5-0.
Morgan addressed the board after the vote, expressing gratitude and outlining a focus on student opportunity: "I take this responsibility to heart, and I'm committed to making decisions that are always in the best interest of our students," she said. She thanked mentors, family members and the Lewis school community and noted the new third-through-fifth-grade classroom wing at Destin Elementary funded by the half-cent sales tax.
The board did not schedule further discussion on the appointment; Morgan's selection was formalized by the vote.
