Farwell council approves lumberjack contract pending insurance verification and appoints Shawn Jackson to Planning Commission

The Village of Farwell council on April 6 approved a lumberjack contract pending confirmation that the contractor meets the village’s insurance requirements and appointed Shawn Jackson to the Planning Commission.

Trustee Gina Hamilton moved to approve the lumberjack contract, with Trustee Jeff Linton seconding. The minutes record a roll call vote of 'all yeas' and the approval is contingent on verification of the contractor’s insurance coverage before execution.

In separate new-business votes, the council voted to send a blight cleanup proposal to the owners of 662 Coker Drive after a motion from Trustee Amanda Pfruender (seconded by Trustee Victoria Williams), and Trustee Gina Hamilton moved to cancel the council meetings scheduled for April 20 and May 18 because of planned renovations; Trustee Amanda Pfruender seconded and the motion carried.

Trustee Victoria Williams moved to appoint Shawn Jackson to the Planning Commission; Trustee Gina Hamilton seconded. The roll-call vote was recorded as Yeas from Trustees Williams, Hamilton, Linton, Frayer and Pfruender, and an abstention from President Tracey Jackson. The motion carried.

President Tracey Jackson also presented a county report from Commissioner Gross and noted that village staff will attend the APWA awards for the Mill Pond project. The meeting adjourned at 6:31 PM.
