Freeburg schedules May 12 Combined Board meeting to begin talks on Murphy, Hayden and AES Solar projects

Trustee Dana Miller, chair of the Legal/Ordinance Committee, reported at the May 4 Freeburg Village Board meeting that the Village Engineer, Tim Pruett, told the committee a Combined Planning and Zoning Board meeting is scheduled for May 12 to begin preliminary discussions on multiple development projects.
Trustee Miller said the agenda for that May 12 session will include preliminary discussions on the Murphy Project, the Hayden Project and an AES Solar proposal. She also reported that the Philips Development remains under preparation for annexation and vacation plats and that the committee discussed a separate property described as the Scooters property.
On the topic of fire-safety permitting, Trustee Miller reported that Fire Chief Hans Mueller and Greg Vogel spoke to the committee about a proposed ordinance requiring permits for fire-related items. The board expressed concerns and the mayor suggested a meeting with both parties and legal counsel before the matter returns to the full board for further action.
The report was informational; no ordinance or formal action on the development items was taken at the May 4 meeting. The Combined Planning and Zoning meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.
