Burnet County approves airshow sponsorship, annex renovation amendment and TEMAT MOU

During its Jan. 13 meeting, the Burnet County Commissioners Court approved a package of contracts, sponsorships, grant applications and interagency agreements.
Among the actions approved under Item 24, the court authorized sponsorship of the March 20–21, 2026 Bluebonnet Airshow in an amount not to exceed $3,000. The court also authorized execution of an amendment agreement with J. Poole Construction to continue work on the Burnet County Annex renovation/expansion through Feb. 28, 2026, and extended an additional-services authorization with law firm Levy Dykema for an additional $1,000. The court approved applying for a TexTreasures grant (not to exceed $10,000) to support preservation work for county-history materials housed at the library genealogy center. Additionally, the court approved entering into a General and No Litigation Certificate with Capital Area Finance Corporation regarding tax-exempt obligations and approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Texas Division of Emergency Management for the State Emergency Management Assistance Teams (TEMAT) program.
Motion to approve items a–f was made by Commissioner Joe Don Dockery and seconded by Commissioner Jim Luther Jr.; the motion passed unanimously, 5–0. Separately, the court rejected all bids on Re-Bid 25-4090-02 (installation of a limited-use lift at 127 E. Jackson St.) and authorized the project to be re-bid, also by unanimous vote. The court tabled consideration of several FY27 cybersecurity grant projects (State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program) to Jan. 27, 2026.
