The council adopted a resolution accepting bids and awarding the contract to Knife River.
For the Southeast Brainerd reconstruction and utility replacement (17th, 18th, 19th, Norwood, Maple, Laurel streets and surrounding blocks) the engineer's estimate was $3,477,008. Ryan Contracting was the apparent low bidder at $2,995,049.25 (about 14% under estimate). Council discussed local soil conditions and staff said geotechnical reports and contractor experience factored into the recommendation; the council adopted the resolution to accept bids and award the contract to Ryan Contracting.
