Washington County board adds boat‑launch grant amendments, America 250 trail items and other measures to consent agenda

At agenda item 2.1, a staff presenter said the resolution amends the county’s earlier FBIP application to specify who is authorized to apply and who will serve as project manager for the Florida Boating Improvement Program (FBIP) review. "Specifically, they need to know who was authorized to apply for the grant," the presenter said, and added the county administrator and the grants coordinator to those roles to meet the review requirements. The staff presentation used both the names "Gap Lake" and "Gap Pond" when referring to the boat‑landing site.
Miss Lopez presented multiple America 250‑related requests: permission to use Orange Hill Park on July 2 for a driving‑tour launch event, placement of interpretive panels at Orange Hill Park, Wayside Park, the government annex and Blue Lake, and a related map/display scheme. She told the board the driving tour has 10 stops and that the Orange Hill event would include Revolutionary War reenactors and historical‑society booths so visitors could view the trail and related panels. The board agreed to add both the park‑use request and the panel placements to the consent agenda.
Miss Lopez also presented a proclamation recognizing National Travel and Tourism Week in Washington County. The chair highlighted tourism figures that were provided at the meeting: "$27,900,000 in visitor spending in 2024, which contributed directly to 305 jobs in our county," he said.
A presenter identified as Miss Rancher described the NCBA federal job‑training program for low‑income residents age 55 and older and asked the county to again act as a host agency; she said the program has led to hires in the county's workforce and that staff had reviewed the agreement. The board added that item to the consent agenda as well.
Board members expressed no objections and the chair called for the items to be placed on the consent agenda by voice assent. No formal roll call or numeric vote tally was recorded in the workshop transcript.
