Hueytown Council unanimously adopts a slate of nuisance and administrative resolutions

At its May 12 meeting the Hueytown City Council unanimously adopted multiple resolutions declaring several properties public nuisances, approved a multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan, authorized purchases and appropriations, and approved payment to a contractor; all votes were unanimous.
The Hueytown City Council unanimously approved a package of resolutions on May 12 addressing code enforcement, hazard mitigation, equipment purchases and budget items.
Council Member Zinnerman moved to adopt Resolution 7407, which declares a public nuisance for weeds, trash and/or an inoperable vehicle at 123 Westbrook Road; Council Member Wright seconded and the measure passed with a unanimous roll-call vote. Similar unanimous votes approved Resolutions 7408 (1906 26th Avenue North), 7409 (103 West Crest Road), 7410 (1220 26th Avenue North) and 7411 (1224 26th Avenue North), each declaring those properties nuisances under the city’s code enforcement process.
Council Member Wright moved and Council Member Randall seconded adoption of Resolution 7412, which adopts the Division "G" Multi‑Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan; the council voted unanimously to approve the plan. Council Member Jacks moved Resolution 7413 to declare certain municipal personal property surplus and authorize disposal and the purchase of mowers for Public Works; Council Member Wright seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The council also rescheduled the May 26 meeting to May 18 by adopting Resolution 7414 (moved by Council Member Randall, seconded by Council Member Wright), authorized an appropriation to the Hueytown Middle School Girls Softball program via Resolution 7415 (moved by Council Member Jacks, seconded by Council Member Zinnerman), and approved Resolution 7416 to pay Astro Electric Company, Inc. $14,551.56 for delinquent electrical work at the city ball fields and amend the FY2026 budget (moved by Council Member Wright, seconded by Council Member Zinnerman). All votes were unanimous.
The council recorded account balances and approved city bills totaling $294,330.44 earlier in the meeting by a separate unanimous roll-call vote. Actions taken were procedural votes to adopt plans, declare nuisances, authorize purchases and make an appropriation; no dissenting votes were recorded.
