Lyon County fiscal court adopts proclamations, approves minutes and moves to executive session on personnel

The Lyon County fiscal court used its April 21 special called meeting to adopt two proclamations, approve prior minutes, hear a road department update and vote to enter executive session on personnel matters.

Representatives from a local survivor-support organization joined the meeting for a proclamation declaring April 2026 as Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month; the court moved, seconded and approved the proclamation by voice vote. The court also accepted an Arbor Day proclamation that had been signed earlier so the proclamation could be available on the appropriate date.

The court approved minutes from the March 12 regular meeting and the April 2 special meeting by voice vote. In a road department update, officials reported culvert installations and noted recurring theft or damage to street signs; a magistrate asked about charges for stolen signs and discussed interim repairs.

During discussion a magistrate urged that the jailer, identified in the transcript as 'Steve,' deserved the raise he requested, saying the jailer saves the county money on outside jail fees. The chair responded that pay tiers for sheriff, judge and clerk are population-based and that auditors had noted some items would be addressed in the next fiscal year.
