Members had earlier framed the budget review by citing fiscal pressures including lost jail revenue, a projected 10.9% increase in health insurance costs and possible wage-study impacts. Those pressures were raised during the Sept. 10 session and were referenced again during department presentations, including the Human Services presentation by Jill Bender.
The minutes record that committee members discussed possible uses of ARPA funds in relation to Human Services but do not indicate any formal agreement or reallocation. After the unseconded motion, committee discussion continued on other departmental budgets; no formal reduction to Human Services was recorded in the minutes. The committee scheduled additional budget review for Sept. 23, 2021.
