Freeman said the aim is to create a library of pre‑approved designs the board can use to streamline future certificate‑of‑appropriateness reviews and encourage local architects to submit examples.
Freeman said the city has adopted architectural design standards at the commission level and staff will bring a presentation to the board at the next meeting. “We’re going to encourage local architects to submit ideas for site plans which the Historic Preservation Board could pre‑approve,” Freeman said. The board did not take formal action on the initiative at this meeting; the item was announced for future consideration.
