Riley County adopts six-month moratorium on data centers and battery storage applications

A commissioner moved and the board seconded adoption of the moratorium resolution; the motion passed. Commissioners directed staff to begin drafting regulatory language and review criteria so that, if applicants appear, the county will have an established basis for evaluation.
The board and counsel noted the resolution is flexible: the board can shorten, extend, or refine the moratorium as the regulatory work proceeds.
