Colorado County Commissioners on Oct. 14 approved a budget amendment to transfer $50,000 from the general fund contingency to the county fairgrounds account to cover excess maintenance and facility repairs and authorized the purchase of a utility cart for grounds operations.
Commissioner Ryan Brandt explained the transfer is intended to ensure sufficient funds remain in the fairgrounds allocation to complete maintenance through the end of the year. Judge Ty Prause amended the motion to include authority to purchase a cart to assist operations at the fairgrounds; both the amendment and the transfer were approved by unanimous vote (5-0).
The court record shows vendor invoices and multiple fairgrounds utility charges and electrical work in the accounts-payable packet, which county officials said the amended funds will help cover. The motion directed county financial staff to process the budget amendment and allow the fairgrounds manager to acquire the equipment authorized by the court, subject to county procurement rules.
