Commissioners approve utility pole and fiber permits, award bridge contract and authorize land transaction

Utility and broadband permits: The court approved San Bernard Electric Cooperative Inc.’s application to place two power poles in the Forest Oak Drive right‑of‑way in Precinct 1 and a separate application to place one pole on South Logan Park Drive in Precinct 2. Both permits were approved on recorded motions (Forest Oak: motion by Commissioner Owers; South Logan Park Drive: motion by Commissioner Brandt) and carried unanimously. The permits include special construction provisions (no emplacement during wet weather; removal of brush within seven days; trench protection; driveway restoration) and require coordination with the precinct commissioner and county road administrator prior to construction.
The court also approved Industry Communications’ application to install buried fiber optic cable in the Zimmerscheidt Road right‑of‑way (Precinct 3). The permit record specifies installation of a 4‑fiber cable in a ¾‑inch duct, handholes 3 ft × 2 ft × 3 ft, burial depth measurements and restoration obligations.
Bridge award and land transaction: Commissioners awarded the bid for a bridge at County Road 215 over Dowdy Creek (Precinct 2) to Wakefield Bridge, Inc. for $260,000 and authorized the County Judge to execute contract documents. Commissioner Ryan Brandt introduced the project and the motion to award; the vote was unanimous. The court also authorized Commissioner Shannon Owers to finalize a transaction of a 7.50‑acre tract in Precinct 1; the motion carried 5–0.
