Sheriff Justin Lindemann presented the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office 2025 Racial Profiling Report to the Commissioners Court on March 9. The report lists 4,447 traffic stops conducted in 2025 and states that the agency received no complaints alleging racial profiling during the reporting period.
The report provides a breakdown of stop locations (city streets, state and U.S. highways, county roads), race and ethnicity counts, gender, reasons for stops, search yields and contraband discovered. The Sheriff’s Office reported 72 searches conducted in 2025 and 41 instances where contraband was discovered (primarily drugs and alcohol). The report also indicates seven arrests and details reasons for arrests including penal-code violations and outstanding warrants.
Sheriff Lindemann noted that the department has maintained a written racial profiling policy since 2002 and implemented an updated policy in 2025. The report states the Sheriff’s Office meets statutory data-audit requirements and provides a public complaint process for alleged profiling incidents. The court approved the consent agenda that included acceptance of the report.
