DeWitt County awards contracts for fuels, asphalt, concrete and road materials

DeWitt County Commissioners approved a package of procurement awards on March 9, 2026, selecting vendors for county fuels, asphalt oils, concrete and a wide range of road materials for the coming contract year.
The court received bids for Fuel Bid No. 2026-0007 and awarded the contract to On-Site Fuels, effective April 14, 2026, through April 13, 2027. Commissioners also approved Asphalt Oils Bid No. 2026-0005, allocating primary and secondary suppliers by product type (Martin Asphalt Company and Ergon Asphalt), and awarded Concrete Bid No. 2026-0006 to ABN Construction LLC for multiple concrete mixes. The court reviewed and awarded the Road Materials Bid No. 2026-0008 listing primary and alternate vendors across aggregates, hot mixes and specialty materials.
Commissioner James Kaiser moved to receive the bids and make the awards; the motions passed on recorded votes in open session. The awards set vendor relationships and pricing sources that county road-and-bridge crews will use for public works and maintenance projects in precincts 1–4 during the contract year.
At the same meeting the court also handled related asset-management items: it declared certain fixed assets as salvage under Local Government Code 263.152 and approved a trade-in of 34 firearms (33 Glock pistols and one Ruger Mini-14) from the Sheriff’s Office for credit toward replacement purchases. Commissioners approved transfers of two Motorola APX8500 mobile radios between the Sheriff, Emergency Management and Constable offices, as requested, and received the county’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the year ending Sept. 30, 2025.
The procurement awards and asset actions were recorded as motions with seconders and carried by majority votes as noted in the minutes. Vendors are expected to begin deliveries and services under the new contracts starting April 14, 2026.
