The Dickens County Commissioners Court met in special session on Jan. 5, 2026, and unanimously approved two vehicle purchases while discussing the possible formation of a Chapter 501 Economic Development Corporation board.
County Judge Kevin Brendle called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m. Commissioners Dennis Wyatt (Precinct 1), Mike Smith (Precinct 2), Chris Horn (Precinct 3) and Greg Arnold (Precinct 4) were recorded as present.
Commissioner Chris Horn moved to approve the purchase of a sheriff pickup using SB22 Grant Funds; Commissioner Dennis Wyatt seconded the motion, which the court recorded as passing unanimously. Later in the session, Commissioner Greg Arnold moved to approve the purchase of an additional county vehicle; Commissioner Chris Horn seconded that motion and it also passed unanimously.
The court recorded a discussion of forming a Chapter 501 Economic Development Corporation board. The minutes show the topic was discussed but do not record any motion or formal vote to create the board during this special session.
Barbara Bogart introduced Joel Riede, identified in the minutes as the Community Relations Manager with Galaxy, to the court. No further action related to that introduction is recorded in the minutes.
Greg Arnold moved to adjourn; Dennis Wyatt seconded. The minutes show the motion passed unanimously and the court adjourned at 9:59 a.m. The minutes were attested by Dickens County Clerk Danay Carnes.
