Dickens County Commissioners approve 2025 audit, consent items and claims

The Dickens County Commissioners Court approved the county’s 2025 audit and cleared routine business during its March 12 meeting in Dickens.
David Copeland of accounting firm Bolinger, Segars, Gilbert and Moss LLP presented the auditor’s report for 2025. Commissioner Chris Horn moved to accept the report; Commissioner Dennis Wyatt seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The approval completes the county’s formal acceptance of the 2025 financial audit.
The court also reviewed and approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from the Feb. 10 and Feb. 20 meetings and departmental reports from the sheriff, justice of the peace, tax assessor-collector, county clerk and treasurer. The consent items recorded several purchases described by the court as exceeding the county’s spending policy — a cattle guard for Precinct 3, a pallet of diesel exhaust fluid for Precincts 1 and 2, and a culvert for Precinct 1 — and the court approved those expenditures as part of the consent motion.
After an executive session, the court approved action on claims incurred since the last meeting and voted to pay Historical Commission bills. The minutes record no line-item transfers or budget amendments.
The motions to adopt the audit and to approve the consent items were each seconded and passed unanimously by the voting members present: County Judge Kevin Brendle and Commissioners Dennis Wyatt, Mike Smith, Chris Horn and Greg Arnold.
