Gregg County commissioners approve payroll, budget moves, bonds, RFP authorization and a tax penalty waiver

In a brief Jan. 13 session, the Gregg County Commissioner’s Court approved routine items including payroll and fund transfers, budget amendments, bond continuations, a funding agreement with the Longview Museum of Fine Arts, authorization to advertise an RFP for plumbing services, and a tax penalty waiver after staff explained an appraisal district error.
The Gregg County Commissioner’s Court on Jan. 13 handled routine administrative business, approving payroll and transfers, bills payable, health plan claims, multiple official bonds, and a procurement action to advertise a request for proposals for licensed plumber services.
The court first approved payroll and fund transfer requests and then approved bills payable, budget amendments and a budget transfer request. The court also approved health plan claims and benefit payments.
On budget housekeeping, the Budget Director asked the court to move remaining balances from the Airport Fire Protection Division to the Airport Public Safety Division effective Jan. 13, 2026 to assist purchase orders and Workday processing; the court approved the transfer.
The court accepted approximately 1,300 cubic yards of recycled asphalt pavement from the Local Government Assistance Program FY 2026 for Precinct 1. The County Clerk presented approval of the Commissioner’s Court minutes for December 2025 and several official bonds, including official bond number 70925076 for County Court at Law Judge Vince L. Del Wilbur (effective 01/01/2026) and continuation of bond number 65791462 for Gregg County Tax Assessor‑Collector Michelle Terry (effective 12/31/2025 through 12/31/2026).
A funding agreement for FY26 between Gregg County and the Longview Museum of Fine Arts was approved. The purchasing representative presented a standard request and the court authorized the county purchasing agent to advertise RFP 2026‑05 for licensed plumber services. A request to waive penalty and interest for one year after the appraisal district missed recording a deed was granted; staff said all taxes had been paid.
All routine items were approved by voice vote following recorded motions and seconds. The court adjourned after completing the agenda.
