Hamilton County pursues $2 million regional radio-tower grant; Annex parking lot completed

County staff reported that the parking lot behind the Annex has been completed and thanked Commissioner Johnny Wagner and his crew for clearing overgrown brush and trash. The court said it will work with the Jr. Master Gardeners Club to beautify surrounding areas.
Communications manager Lacy Alexander told the court she will meet with Motorola to schedule next steps for equipment installation and that Bearcom will complete cabling on the towers. Alexander said Hamilton County will apply with Mills, San Saba, Lampasas and Coryell counties for a regional $2 million "Siri" grant to fund a third shared tower; she also recommended filing an individual county application if regional agreement on location is not reached and will coordinate logistics with the Central Texas Council of Governments.
Commissioner Dickie Clary raised grounds-maintenance planning for tower sites this spring; Commissioner David Ogle said his precinct will maintain the Hico tower site. Sheriff Brad Boulton updated the court on staffing, saying one deputy will start next week and two additional candidates are in background stages.
The court also discussed evaluating the county’s camera security system for possible upgrades and adding a camera installation in the Annex building.
