Hamilton County commissioners approve consent agenda, payroll and multiple procurement items; judge abstains

Hamilton County Commissioner’s Court voted on routine business and a set of procurement and contract items during its Dec. 23 regular session.
The court approved the Consent Agenda on a motion by Commissioner Dickie Clary, seconded by Commissioner David Ogle. The Consent Agenda included approval of minutes from Dec. 9; departmental reports; an expense register of $73,276.91; in‑between bills totaling $3,929.98; payroll of $90,432.39; no continuing education certificates and no culvert applications; building and use requests from Hamilton Historic Main Street for recurring Courthouse parking‑lot events in 2026 (listed dates) and a March 28, 2026 reservation for a Sip & Stroll Wine Walk; and bonds for Sheri Poe (Deputy District Clerk), Mary Clark (Justice of the Peace Clerk) and Mashell Thompson (Jail Administrator). The court recorded the vote as 4-0 in favor, with County Judge James Yates abstaining.
Later in the meeting the court approved several procurement and contract items. On a motion by Commissioner Clary, seconded by Commissioner Ogle, the commission approved Paradise Conversions’ estimate for two new patrol vehicles to be paid from ICE Grant funds; the vote was recorded 4-0 with Judge Yates abstaining. The court also accepted an interlocal agreement with the Carlton Volunteer Fire Department after a motion by Commissioner Clary and second by Commissioner Wagner; that vote was recorded 4-0 with Judge Yates abstaining.
The court ratified a $3,122 annual quote from BizProtec for email migration and a transition to Microsoft 365 and rescinded a previous Ricoh contract for the County Judge’s office before accepting a replacement Ricoh contract. The new Ricoh arrangement was reported with a monthly cost of $72.02 for the judge’s office. The motions approving the IT migration and Ricoh contract change were recorded as 4-0 with Judge Yates abstaining.
The session adjourned at 9:35 a.m. The court did not hold an open‑comments period at this meeting and no budget (L.I.T.) adjustments were presented.
