Hamilton County reviews FEMA/TDEM disaster projects, declines to combine road repairs

County officials told FEMA they do not want damaged roads combined into larger projects for financial reasons and were instructed to submit an email to FEMA formalizing that request.
TDEM representatives confirmed the following projects have been obligated or processed for payment: Project #1782, $87,018.24; Project #1336, $12,360.69; Project #1781, $16,370.49; Project #1783, $21,154.85 — totaling $136,904.21. Four projects are pending award and four are in large-project review. The contractors and county staff noted the sink hole repair on County Road 216 will be finished this week; remaining work is the road surface.
The deadline for project completion was identified as May 17, 2026; Hamilton County may seek up to 18 months of extensions if needed.
What happens next: County staff will send the required e-mail to FEMA to confirm the county's project-structuring preferences and continue coordinating reimbursements and project closeouts with TDEM and FEMA.
