The Concordia Parish Police Jury on Feb. 9 voted to cite a property at 4097 Hwy 129 for ordinance violations and approved multiple superintendent work orders, including cleanup at 161 Skipper Drive and use of the limb truck on Hwy 568. Jurors reviewed maintenance quantities and gravel placements (for example, 378 yards on Doty and 120 yards on Phillip Field) as part of the superintendent’s update.
In administrative business, the jury unanimously adopted a resolution to add Adam Probst to all signature cards at Delta and Concordia Banks. During new business, Maurice Bachus asked for an update on a rake to clear the bayou entering Ferriday; Tony said he was still waiting on that item. Secretary/Treasurer Ariella Carter reported contacting other parishes about grant-writing arrangements (noting Caldwell pays 7% of awarded grants) and said she and President Cornell Lewis had met a grant writer who proposed a six-month retainer at $5,000 per month.
Wilbert Washington suggested a finance committee meeting in March to review quarterly reports, and Kenny Simpson noted trees on Florence Matthews have been marked for cutting to install new light poles. The meeting adjourned on a unanimous motion by Red Tiffee and was certified by Secretary/Treasurer Ariella Carter.
