Hamilton County Commissioners on Tuesday voted to reinstate a burn ban for Precincts 1 and 3 and ratified a proclamation honoring Hamilton ISD state championships.
Commissioner David Ogle moved to place the burn ban back in effect for Precincts One and Three; Commissioner Johnny Wagner seconded. The court approved the burn ban 4-0, with County Judge James Yates recorded as abstaining.
The court unanimously ratified a proclamation recognizing HISD Football and HISD Cross Country for state championships after a motion from Commissioner Dickie Clary and a second from Commissioner Keith Curry. Clary praised the student-athletes, saying, "these kids just have the wow factor!"
At the same meeting law enforcement provided a routine activity report: 59 reports written, 13 arrests, 196 traffic stops, 838 calls for service, an under-one-ounce marijuana seizure and 23 inmate transports. The Communications Department said it answered 2,942 calls, including 319 911 calls.
The burn ban motion and proclamation were procedural actions taken on routine agenda items; the court did not discuss expanded countywide restrictions at the meeting.
