Gregg County commissioners approve payroll transfers, tax-resale resolutions and several road projects

The Gregg County Commissioners Court on March 10 approved a slate of routine consent items, several tax-resale resolutions and multiple precinct road projects during a regular session in Longwood, Texas.
The court voted to approve payroll transfers, bills payable, budget amendments and health-plan claims early in the meeting on voice votes. A $600 annual sponsorship for Sabine Natchez Resource Conservation and Development also passed after a motion by Commissioner Wingo and a second by Commissioner Bostic.
The court approved three resolutions authorizing tax resale of county properties: a resale to Miguel Alvarez Mendoza for $8,013.45, a resale to Chapa and Lakish Realty LLC for $6,070, and a resale involving a City of Longview parcel for $13,930. Each resolution authorized the county judge to execute necessary documents and passed by voice vote.
Multiple Precinct 3 road projects were approved, including citywide oiling and asphalt overlays in coordination with the City of White Oak, installation of a driveway culvert at 25021 Country Club Road and a secondary driveway at the same address. The court also approved an interlocal agreement with Clarksville City for surface, base and drainage repairs at West Whatley Road and Elm Street and a local grant for Locker Plant Road repairs. Precinct 4 was authorized to assist the City of Lakeport with BOOM Act clearance on Ben Mitchell Street.
A request to use inmate labor to support the Gregg County Historical Museum’s annual fundraiser on April 9–10, 2026 was presented by a museum representative and approved; Sheriff Sorelleon acknowledged the arrangement. Commissioner McKinney moved the approval and Commissioner Wingo seconded.
During public comment, G. Foy presented a pamphlet connected to the late Commissioner Danny Craig and offered a remembrance of Craig’s business and service to the community. "He gave a good service to the community," G. Foy said, and offered the pamphlet as a memento.
The court approved the February 2026 minutes, accepted a payment of $1,559.75 from the Housing Authority for Julia Wood Homes in Gladewater, and made a clerical correction to record Commissioner Wingo as having seconded an earlier motion. The court adjourned at the conclusion of the items.
