Hamilton County approves consent items and procedural orders; Judge abstains from votes

Hamilton County Commissioners Court approved multiple routine items and procedural orders at its Dec. 9 meeting, voting to accept payroll and expense registers, agree to an election resolution and ratify a volunteer fire department agreement while County Judge James Yates abstained from recorded votes.

The court approved a consent agenda that included minutes from Nov. 25, departmental reports, an expense register totaling $69,632.07, in-between bills of $3,929.98 and payroll of $92,757.83. The consent agenda also included a building-use request from Beacon Ministries for Jan. 17, 2026, and a bond for Auston Rose with the Sheriff's Department. Commissioner Dickie Clary moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner David Ogle seconded. The motion passed with a recorded vote of 3-0 and Judge Yates abstaining.

In separate motions the court approved a joint resolution and statistical information for the March 3, 2026 primary election (motion by Commissioner Clary, second by Commissioner Keith Curry) and approved an agreement with the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department (motion by Commissioner Johnny Wagner, second by Commissioner Clary). Both motions were recorded 4-0 with Judge Yates abstaining. The court also signed an order, under Texas Local Government Code 81.005(a), designating the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month as the regular meeting days for Commissioners Court (motion by Commissioner Clary, second by Commissioner Wagner; recorded 4-0, Judge Yates abstained).
