Commissioners approve road funding, school land agreement, RFQ award and surplus disposition

Gregg County commissioners on April 14 approved a slate of routine items, including road funding, a local agreement with Longview Independent School District, an RFQ award for design services and the disposition of surplus county property.
The court approved a $245,351.42 transfer from auction proceeds to fund road repairs on Remington and Brown streets in Precinct 3 and added Remington and Browning streets to the FY26 road schedule. The court also corrected clerical errors in a proposed local agreement with Longview ISD, reducing a packet typo from 8,194 cubic yards to 10 cubic yards of asphalt in two places, and approved entering the land‑purchase agreement and authorizing the county judge to execute closing documents.
Purchasing staff reported five responses to RFQ 2026‑08 for design of a new agriculture extension facility and recommended KSA Engineers as the most qualified; the court approved awarding the contract and authorized the county judge to execute necessary documents. The court also approved routine disposition of surplus county items under the Texas Local Government Code and asked purchasing to notify commissioners of the next auction date.
All items were approved by voice vote.
