Fairboard discusses maintenance, volunteers and livestock show progress ahead of 2026 Fair

At its April 8 meeting, the Lyon County Fairboard reviewed maintenance needs for the fairgrounds and heard a brief update that livestock-show preparations are coming together.
Lisa Tibbals told the board she had attempted to meet with maintenance leads but scheduling conflicts delayed a planning meeting; the board discussed potential improvements including adding on to the stage, installing an air conditioner in the rabbit barn, adding tables and benches, and repainting grandstand steps. Tibbals said trustees are scheduled for volunteer work days in May and June to clear leaves and weeds.
Board member Michael Giorgi reported that he sprayed for weeds and that a contractor (recorded in the minutes as Peri’s) sprayed the back area as well. The board did not take formal action on capital improvements at the meeting and left budgeting and contractor scheduling to staff and trustees to resolve before the fair.
Chair Curtis Jordan closed the item by thanking volunteers and board members for their efforts preparing the grounds. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
