KATHI COCHRAN, Missouri Job Center WIOA Program Coordinator, briefed the McDonald County Commission on Sept. 11 about a workforce program aimed at low-income residents who lack prior job experience.
Cochran said the program would provide training opportunities at no cost to McDonald County and that participant wages would be paid through the WIOA program rather than by county funds. The coordinator outlined that the program’s purpose is to teach skills that should help participants secure future employment.
Commissioners did not commit to enrolling county employees or residents on the spot; the transcript records that Cochran informed the commission about the program and that the county would not bear direct wage costs if it chose to participate.
The commission took the information under advisement and did not vote or take formal action during the Sept. 11 meeting.
