Local DAV chapter to lead November Veterans Stand Down and resource fair in Tippecanoe County

Jason Anderson (speaker 5), commander of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 27, updated the commissioners during public comment on planning for a Tippecanoe County Veterans Stand Down and Resource Fair set for Nov. 1. His chapter is coordinating the event after no comparable countywide stand down occurred in 2025.
Anderson said the chapter has engaged 75 community partners and is focusing on continuously available community services for veterans. Attendance at the Stand Down will require pre-registration through partner organizations such as LTHC, LUM, the Outreach Advocacy Center, NAMI, Mental Health America and the Mary T. Klinker Veteran Resource Center or through law enforcement outreach teams. The planning team is using recent examples from other Indiana communities and expects to serve the county's most vulnerable veterans; Anderson estimated planning numbers of 60–75 vulnerable veterans based on point-in-time counts and partner feedback.
Anderson said flyers and registration information will be published later and that his chapter appreciated the commissioner's support.
