Cascade Charter Township’s board approved Resolution 022-2026 on a vote of the members present to amend PUD 76 and allow an expansion of the Costco fuel facility at the Waterfall Shops development. The measure, introduced at the April 22 meeting, cleared the board after a brief question-and-answer session with Costco representatives.
The amendment authorizes replacement of the four canopy signs and expansion of the fueling area. Manager Smith introduced the item and said the amendment had been discussed previously; Costco’s on-site representative, Larry Jerzyk, told the board the replacement signs "will be the same size" as existing signage and that color questions had been addressed during the presentation.
Jerzyk described the project's operational goal: "We're doubling the amount of pumps here at this location. It's gonna help tremendously with congestion and traffic." He told the board Costco is preparing permit plans and estimated construction could begin as early as this fall or, more likely, in 2027 if permitting and scheduling push the start date back.
A trustee moved to approve Resolution 022-2026; the motion was supported and the clerk called the roll. Each member present voted to approve the amendment and the motion carried. The board did not attach additional conditions to the amendment during the meeting.
The approved amendment moves the development forward to the permitting stage; staff and Costco representatives said they expect to return with permit plans and scheduling updates as the project progresses.
