Montgomery Township to host Memorial Day ‘America 250’ kickoff with food trucks and fireworks at Windle Stray Park

"It's a really big community celebration to kick off Memorial Day weekend," said Jennifer Tote, who works at the township's community recreation center and is coordinating the event. Organizers plan live music, fireworks, food trucks, breweries, children’s activities and family-friendly entertainment.
Tote said the event will include face painting, balloon twisting, arts and crafts, yard games, bounce houses, photo opportunities, a "touch a truck" exhibit with police and fire vehicles, and a community vote for a favorite American invention. Food vendors listed by organizers include Dog Bites, Humpty Dumplings, Kona Ice, Mystic Pizza and Philly Funnel Cake; two new trucks for this year are Federal Donuts and Joe's Crafted Cravings. Beverage partners include Concha Hocken Brewing, Tannery Run, Troubles End and 2 Girls on Tap.
The kickoff is scheduled at Windle Stray Park (off Kenas Road). Tote asked attendees to arrive early, bring chairs and blankets, and said she is especially looking forward to the fireworks display. "I really do think these are, like, the best fireworks ever," she said.
Planning for the event began months earlier and involves coordination across township departments, Tote said. Staff worked on event layout, entertainment booking, vendor and fireworks contracts, permits, parking and setup, and ongoing vendor communication. She said township public safety and public works departments are part of the planning to ensure operations run smoothly.
Organizers noted past weather-related cancellations and asked the public to check Montgomery Township's social channels for the latest updates. "The latest update is on social media ... at Montgomery Township PA or mont CRC," Tote said.
Carolyn McCreery, the township manager, thanked Tote for organizing the event and encouraged residents to attend the family-oriented celebration. The podcast hosts closed by inviting listeners to subscribe and follow Montgomery Township for further announcements.
