Committee approves investment policy, authorizes veterans lodging overrun and OKs monthly bills

The Vernon County Finance Committee took several administrative actions at its April 20 meeting.
The committee reviewed the county’s investment policy, noting deposit protections ($250,000 federal insurance and $400,000 public-deposit guarantee). Will Beitlich moved and Mike Leis seconded approval of the policy; the motion carried unanimously.
Under Item #6 Veterans Service Officer Jim Young requested authorization to exceed the county’s room-rate limit for a June 9–16, 2017 conference in San Diego. The committee approved exceeding the room rate by $2,469.68 on a motion by Mike Leis, seconded by Kevin Larson.
Later the committee reviewed the monthly bills and authorized payment. A motion by Mike Leis, seconded by Kevin Larson, approved the monthly bills; the committee adjourned at 11:22 a.m. The next Finance Committee meeting was set for May 18, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.
