Green Local Schools spotlights students, staff and growing robotics program

The meeting featured a robotics presentation outlining a year of many firsts: the district sent its elementary fifth grade club to a competition for the first time, hosted a middle school competition, and fielded its first high school team at a national robotics competition. Speaker 10 noted the middle-school teams split into JV and varsity because of participation levels; speaker 11 told the board that Green students placed at several events and competed successfully against older teams.
"Our robotics program in Green is something special," speaker 11 said, emphasizing that the program begins at young ages and progresses through high school. Presenters asked the board and community to continue support for growth, noting that many participants will return next year to help expand the high school program.
The recognitions segment also highlighted community partnerships: third graders will tour the Lickden Walter Schoolhouse with the Green Historical Society, and several Green students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. The board applauded athletic signings and district arts awards.
