Seymour High School Alumni Association outlines Hall of Fame, scholarship and $10,000 endowment goal

Representatives of the Seymour High School Alumni Association told the board the group formed in 2021 to reconnect graduates with current students and provide mentoring, networking and scholarship support.
The association said it has grown to more than 500 contacts and has established bylaws, a board of directors and an Alumni Hall of Fame with a nomination and vote process. A spokesman explained the Hall of Fame nomination rules: nominees must be graduates at least 10 years out, nominations are public, and inductees are selected by alumni volunteers with a 70% ballot threshold; up to five inductees may be selected each year with no more than two posthumous inductions.
The association also described a scholarship fund set up with the Valley Community Foundation and said its goal is to build a $10,000 endowment to provide an annual award. The group reported they are approximately halfway to that goal (about $5,000 raised) and outlined fundraising plans including QR-code signups, social events and proceeds from the Seymour Pumpkin Festival flower sale.
Speakers noted the alumni association's interest in coordinating alumni panels and mentorship opportunities for current students and in recognizing a fiftieth-anniversary class during graduation.
