WSAC council approves nearly $2.76 million for four regional partnerships

The Washington Student Achievement Council authorized staff to award up to $2,760,000 to four regional partnerships that passed WSAC's reapplication process and evaluation criteria. Staff described progress in existing partnerships and said the funding will support a two‑year grant period from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028, with reporting and sustainability planning required.
Abby Roth and Hannah Ladwick (regional partnerships leads) presented evidence of outcomes — for example, higher FAFSA completion and increased graduation and retention in places served by the Empower Partnership (Spokane) and strong FAFSA filing in the Methow Valley partnership. The reapplication process used criteria including community responsiveness, partnership structure, evaluation and adaptation, and stewardship of public funds.
The council moved and seconded the recommendation and approved the awards by voice vote. Chair Vincent emphasized that this is the last funding recommendation the agency will bring under current balances unless new resources are secured, and staff noted they have earmarked $2.9 million to support partners in the fund. Staff will require sustainability plans and year‑over‑year progress reporting as conditions of continuing support.
