Imlay City Board approves bills, policies, athletic trips and calendar changes in unanimous votes

The Imlay City Board of Education moved through a slate of routine business April 26, approving payments, policy updates, transportation and athletic travel, and calendar adjustments by recorded roll call votes.
The board approved payment of General Fund and Lunch Fund bills and disbursements totaling $2,522,196.00 on a motion by Treasurer Doug Van Dyk and support from Trustee Greg Dennis; the roll call vote was unanimous. The board also approved Bond Capital Project checks totaling $6,259.00 on a unanimous vote.
Trustees adopted NEOLA-proposed new, revised or replacement board policies (presented at the March 23 meeting) on a motion by Trustee Greg Dennis and support from Treasurer Van Dyk. The board approved renewal of the Imlay City/Dryden transportation agreement for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027, and approved multiple athletic overnight trips: boys varsity basketball (June 19–28, 2026), girls varsity basketball (June 19–21 and alternative July dates for one camp), ICHS wrestling team camps (June–July 2026), and a girls varsity volleyball team camp July 18–19, 2026. All votes were recorded as unanimous.
The board approved adjustments to the current 2025–26 calendar, establishing the last student day as Friday, June 5, 2026, and approved adjustments to the 2026–27 calendar, setting the last student day as Friday, June 11, 2027. The board accepted the Financial Report and Capital Projects Report as read in BoardBook.
The board also authorized the superintendent to negotiate up to $5,000 for repairs to roof damage at Venture High School. One notable procedural disclosure: the board approved contract extensions for a list of non-union employees; Trustee Ashley Wolford recorded an abstention on that motion because her father-in-law is employed by the district.
