The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously April 28 to allow Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative to proceed with final preparation of documents for a repowering project at the Lakota Wind Farm, contingent on review and approval from the county Board of Adjustment.
Chairman Carter Nath presided over a public hearing opened by Supervisor Kyle Stecker. Ryan Craig, president and CEO of Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative, presented information about the permit application to repower the existing Lakota Wind Farm; the minutes state that members of the public and the board asked questions during the presentation. After the hearing was closed, the board voted to permit Iowa Lakes to prepare the final compliance documents subject to the Board of Adjustment’s review.
The board’s action authorizes the cooperative to move forward with permit preparation and coordination with county review bodies; it does not itself constitute permit approval. The transcript records no final permit number or detailed technical commitments in the minutes; the Board of Adjustment review remains a required next step.
