Lincoln Board elects Shrivastava president, affirms policies; ESU 18 picks officers

The Lincoln Board of Education on May 18 elected board member Shrivastava as president and Dr. Johnson Farr as vice president, approved routine administrative appointments and reaffirmed its standard order of business and district policies.
Derek Aldridge, district staff, told the board that nominations produced a single nominee for board president and that the board would move directly to a motion and roll-call vote. The motion to elect Shrivastava as president was moved, seconded and approved by the members present. The board then nominated and unanimously elected Dr. Johnson Farr as vice president.
Aldridge briefed the board on a statutory requirement tied to recent legislation: “In 2021, the legislature passed LB 644. … the current requirement is you do have to have a designated representative from the district attend,” he said, explaining the board’s practice of designating Dr. Liz Standish for that role. The board formally appointed Dr. Standish as the district’s designated representative for those notification hearings.
The board adopted a standing order of business (items 7.1–7.13) after a member asked whether the procedure could be revised at a future meeting; the chair and staff confirmed any permanent change would be brought back as an agenda item. The board also reviewed a packet titled “Board of Education General Statutory Requirements,” which highlighted federal and state obligations and excerpts from the political-accountability and disclosure materials addressing conflicts of interest (including the definition of immediate family). That review was informational; no vote was required.
Separately, during the ESU 18 special meeting that followed, the unit elected Mara Krivilovic as ESU president and, after a runoff precipitated by an initial tie, elected Annie Mumgaard as vice president. ESU members reappointed Takako Olson as unit administrator and affirmed the unit’s order of business and policy documents.
All formal motions recorded in both sessions were approved by roll-call votes of members present. The Lincoln Board adjourned with no request for a closed session. The ESU special meeting approved minutes from May 12, 2026, and also adjourned without entering closed session.
