Branford selectmen approve equipment sale, fleet purchase, roofing contract and multiple appointments

Fire Chief Tom Mahoney requested that the 2001 KME EXCEL MFD fire engine (VIN 1K9AF42801N058344) be listed for sale; the board approved the request on a motion by Selectman Jeffrey E. Vailette, seconded by Selectman Raymond Dunbar, with a unanimous vote. Public Works Director Gary Zielinski requested a waiver of bidding for a 2026 Ford F600; the board awarded the contract to Tasca Ford for $67,370 after a motion by Vailette and a second from Dunbar.
The board approved assignment of the Thimble Islands Refuse and Recycling Collection contract for the period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028 from Joshua Brooks d/b/a Brooks Stone to Brooks Stone, LLC. First Selectman Joshua Brooks recused and abstained from that vote; the motion passed.
Brendan Leddy asked the board to waive an informality in the BHS roof bid and award the roofing and translucent wall panel replacement contract to Silktown Roofing; the board approved that request unanimously. The meeting record lists multiple reappointments (Center Revitalization Review Board, Community Forest Commission, Daniel Cosgrove Animal Shelter, East Shore District Health Department, Board of Recreation) and new appointments (Robert Ceccolini to the Board of Recreation; Stephen Margolis and Vincent Chiocchio to the Public Building Commission; Hallie Aronson to the Zoning Board of Appeals), all approved by motions of the selectmen.
