At its May 4 meeting the Cedar Fort Town Council approved contracts to outsource building-inspection work and to secure an engineering firm for subdivision and commercial plan reviews.
Council chair (S2) recommended AJ1 Inspection Services as the town's building inspector and final-review provider, citing the firm's pricing and a local recommendation. "I make a motion to approve AJ1 inspection services as the building inspector and final review services," S2 said. The motion was seconded and carried by voice/roll-call vote.
Council then considered proposals from multiple engineering firms. Several members said they preferred a smaller, local engineering firm for responsiveness; others favored firms with broader capacity. Based on past experience and a desire for timely service, the council approved Sunrise Engineering to handle subdivision reviews, inspections and commercial work going forward.
The contracts include standard termination language allowing the town to end services if firms do not perform. Council members asked staff to onboard the new contractors and to ensure that existing projects with the prior engineer are finished out before transition.
Council directed staff to implement a probationary/termination clause in the contracts and to return with final executed agreements and start dates.
