At its May 18 meeting the Williamson County Board of Education approved a slate of budget and donation items and recorded the following votes.
- TCAT donation for dual enrollment: $8,278.79 ' approved by voice vote, 10-0.
- MTSU donation for dual enrollment: $6,500 ' approved by voice vote, 10-0.
- Letter-grade bonus (current year): $4,000,000 ' approved by voice vote, 10-0. Superintendent explained the funds result from expanded state eligibility this year.
- Trustee commission adjustment (property-tax collections): $300,000 ' approved 9-1.
- ESCO (energy savings contract) payment: $1,183,842.58 ' approved 10-0; administration said county commission action is required for final accounting and that budget committee may recommend forgiveness as part of year-end balancing.
- Additional insurance expenses: $2,400,000 ' approved 10-0; administration said the adjustment stems from the county risk manager's reevaluation of claims.
- Additional student-support service expenses: $200,000 (end-of-year reconciliation to cover services to June 30) ' approved 9-1.
Other business: the board also voted 9-1 to move amended policy 4.202 (child-find and special education) to second reading, approved the calendar of meeting dates (unanimous), and renewed the district's High Performing School Districts Flexibility Act designation (unanimous). The meeting adjourned after those votes.
