Solanco School District honors a dozen retiring staff for decades of service

"We greatly appreciate all of which you've done," said Dr. Chris, who opened the presentations and framed the evening’s tributes as gratitude for employees who have shaped students’ experiences over many years. Speakers highlighted roles that are often behind the scenes—building secretaries, paraprofessionals, custodians and specialized teachers—and described the retirees as steady supports who built relationships with students and colleagues.
Several retirees were noted for specific contributions: a longtime library and literacy advocate recognized for making school libraries welcoming, a head custodian praised for overseeing facilities and event logistics, and special-education staff celebrated for mentoring colleagues and helping students with complex needs. Colleagues and current students offered short remarks and recorded tributes that were read aloud to the board.
The recognitions concluded with invitations for honorees to receive small tokens of appreciation and for photos in the hallway. The board thanked the Education Foundation for its role in nominating and recognizing staff.
The meeting then proceeded to routine business and finance items.
